GetScriptEngineVersion Function
Overview
The GetScriptEngineVersion function returns the script engine version and optionally the release date.
Syntax/Parameters
Syntax
string = GetScriptEngineVersion ( [boolean date_flag] );
Parameters
date_flag
A boolean value, if set to TRUE, the date of the version release is returned
Return Value
Returns a string containing the script engine version or release date or an empty string on failure.
Remarks
The version is in the form of:
major.minorletter
The major value is the significant release number, minor is the minor release number, letter is a lower case letter from a-z marking minor bug fixes. On a limited basis, the letter may be two letters noting an internal or interim release.
Aside of bug fixes, letter release can contain new API functions. Minor number release usually involve some improvement to the script engine and major releases mark significant kimprovements.
The date is in the form of yyyy-mm-dd, or partial ISO-8602.
