CatPaths Function

Overview

The CatPaths function concatenates two strings containing paths.

Syntax/Parameters

Syntax

string = CatPaths ( string path1, string path2 );

Parameters

path1

A string containing a path. It may contain a drive or UNC designation. Maximum of 512 characters.

path2

A string containing a partial path. It may not contain a drive or UNC designation. Maximum of 512 characters.

Return Value

Returns a string containing path2 appended to path1 or an empty string on failure. Use the GetLastError function to retrieve error information.

Remarks

The CatPaths function simply appends the path2 parameter to the path1 parameter. Extra ‘/’ characters will be removed. The CatPaths function does not check for the validity of the resultant path. The second path may lead with a root designation but may not specify a volume.

CatPaths is a simple path combining function, it does not process ‘.’ and ‘..’ path navigation. Use the AddPaths function if tree navigation is required.
