Chapter Six — File Functions (continued)
Overview
The HasURIScheme function tests if a string contains a URI scheme designation.
Syntax/Parameters
Syntax
boolean = IsURIScheme ( string name );
Parameters
name
A string.
Return Value
Returns TRUE if name contains a URI scheme or FALSE if it does not.
Remarks
There are hundreds of schemes published with the International Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. The HasURIScheme function is not universal and handles only common scheme types as follows: http, https, ftp, gopher mailto, telnet news, file, wias, nntp, propero, or javascript.
The scheme is not case-sensitive. The name parameter can contain text after the URI scheme and the HasURIScheme function will return TRUE. The HasURIScheme function does not test if the string contains a valid URI.
