15.1.1 Overview

This section deals with functions to identify users, workstations and certain system information.

15.1.2 Functions

GetComputerName — Gets the computer name or related information.

GetNameForSID — Gets the name of the user, computer or group that matches the Security Descriptor string.

GetOperatingSystemName — Gets the name of the operating system.

GetOperatingSystemVersion — Gets the operating system version in the form of a serial number for each specific version.

GetSIDForName — Gets the Security Descriptor string for the given username, computer or group.

GetSystemInformation — Gets a list of system properties and parameters.

GetSystemMetrics — Retrieves a specified system metric.

GetUserName — Gets the user name and various permutations.

IsUserInGroup — Checks to see if the current or specified user is a member of group.
