The SEC’s Department of Public Affairs will host an event recognizing the 90th anniversary of the Securities Exchange Act. Staff will celebrate the milestone and reaffirm the agency's commitment to protecting investors and issuers. The event will take place on Thursday, June 6, 2024, beginning at 1:00 p.m., and will be available for public viewing via live webcast on sec.gov.
The event will feature former SEC chairs and experts who will present panel discussions on the history and legacy of the SEC, which was created when President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Securities Exchange Act on June 6, 1934. The Act gave the SEC broad authority to regulate the securities industry and allowed the agency to bring civil charges against individuals and companies that violated securities laws.
For more details on the event, including the full agenda and list of panelists, visit the event’s webpage on the SEC’s website.
