The SEC’s Investor Advisory Committee will hold a meeting on July 25 at 9 a.m. EST. This committee was established to advise the SEC on regulatory priorities and issues, including the regulation of securities products, trading strategies, fee structures, the effectiveness of disclosure, and initiatives to protect investor interests and promote investor confidence. Members of the committee represent a wide variety of investors, from individual and institutional investors to senior citizens and state securities commissions.
The July 25th meeting will cover a range of topics pertaining to the SEC’s regulations of investments. First, the committee will hold a panel discussion on the SEC’s approach to regulation in areas with limited competition. Two other topics (and possible recommendations) will be discussed: 1) trends in investment research and the impact of MiFID II, and 2) the proxy process. In the afternoon, the heads of the SEC Office of the Advocate for Small Business Capital Formation and the Office of Minority and Women Inclusion will present their recent work.
The meeting will occur at the Multipurpose Room at SEC headquarters at 100 F Street, N.E., in Washington, D.C., and it is open to the public. In addition, the conference will be webcast live and archived on the SEC’s website. The meeting’s full agenda is available here, and a list of Investor Advisory Committee members can be found on its website.
