The SEC’s Office of Investor Education and Advocacy has announced the launch of a game show-themed
public service campaign entitled “Investomania” that is designed to help investors make informed investment decisions and protect themselves from fraud. Drawing on the idea that investing may sometimes seem like playing a game, the campaign reaffirms the need for investors to take proper precautions when making investment decisions.
The light-hearted public service campaign is aimed at:
- encouraging investors to carefully explore investments and obtain information from reliable sources to understand risks prior to investing
- reminding investors to utilize the free financial planning tools and information on Investor.gov, the SEC’s resource for investor education
As the number of investors in the financial markets increases, so has the importance of investors taking time to do their due diligence concerning investment opportunities. Since its launch in 2009, Investor.gov has provided accurate and unbiased investment information that helps investors decide how to invest in their future and recognize and avoid fraud.
