On January 30th, the SEC’s EDGAR Business Office (EBO) updated guidance regarding EDGAR file size limits, including information on how filers may ensure that their file size meets EDGAR requirements.
The EBO advises filers to be mindful of file size limits: 200 MB (including all attachments) in most cases, although 600 MB for certain specified forms, and 800 MB for a combined 10-D/ABS-EE submission.
Moreover, filers should follow these standard practices:
- avoid embedding images into HTML using Base64 encoding
- remove repetitive or unnecessary HTML and/or CSS
- provide only one copy of each unique image in the filing
- compress images in lossy JPG format
- add page containers
